Dr. Ron Finds Relief With the Graston Technique

Chiropractor Beaverton, Dr. Ronald Pacheco

In this blog, Dr. Ron shares his story about how Graston therapy helped him!

“One morning I woke up and couldn’t move my shoulder, despite there being no trauma or injury to cause this dysfunction. It turns out I had frozen shoulder, which prevented me from lifting my arm. My symptoms included sharp, shooting, electric, shock-like pains down into my arm and fingertips.”

How I Coped

“As the pain was in my left arm, and I am left arm dominant, I would use my right arm to lift the left arm onto the table or desk. Then, I would take my right hand and put a pencil or pen in my left hand to write. This practice went on for two years! As no event took place to bring on the frozen shoulder, I was waiting for it to improve on its own.”

Experiencing Graston for the First Time

“I finally stopped putting off treatment and my chiropractor designed a care plan for me. With chiropractic adjustments, I started to improve and the shoulder pain decreased, but my recovery would plateau. I started thinking that I might never regain full use of my arm. My chiropractor added Graston therapy to my treatment plan, which uses ergonomically designed instruments with unique edges to sweep over the skin to break up scar tissue and fascial adhesions.”

I Got Better!

“After being treated, I went home and did my usual routine. When I woke up the next day, I reached for the handle of the bedroom door with my left hand for the first time in two years. After one treatment, I was 75% better! As frozen shoulder can last for several years, it was a huge relief to regain that lost function. My chiropractor continued to adjust me and use Graston on my shoulder and neck. I made a full recovery and I haven’t had an issue since.”

Graston Certified

“My healing experience with Graston led me to seek additional training and a certification in this technique. I currently serve as an assistant instructor for Graston and help other health care providers learn this important technique.”
