Whether you run, cycle, hike, golf, play tennis or pickleball, an injury can sideline you. Form & Function Chiropractic provides sports injury chiropractic care for recreational and competitive athletes and active adults in Lake Oswego, Tigard, West Linn, Tualatin and Southwest Portland. Dr. Jeff Devine combines hands-on care with a graded return to activity.

Injuries we commonly see

A four-step approach

We assess restrictions and compensations, adjust to restore motion, rebuild through targeted exercise, and return you to activity in stages. Care may include Erchonia laser therapy as a drug-free, needle-free support tool, plus rehab and physiotherapy using bands, balance discs and mobility drills.

Weekend warriors

If you push hard on weekends and feel it Monday, our weekend warrior care focuses on keeping you moving. The clinic also offers mobility and mechanics work for people who want to perform better without a current injury.

Getting back to your sport

Returning too quickly is a common reason injuries come back. We build a plan with stages so your tissues have time to adapt: first comfortable motion, then strength and control, then sport-specific movement. We also talk about warm-ups, training load and recovery habits that fit your season.

Training habits that protect you

Most overuse injuries come from doing too much too soon. Increase mileage, weight or practice time gradually, warm up before hard efforts, and give yourself recovery days. Pay attention to pain that changes how you move, because compensating can stress other joints. We can review your routine and suggest mobility drills that fit your sport and schedule.

What your first visit looks like

Your first visit starts with a conversation about your history, when your sports injury began, what makes it better or worse, and what you want to get back to doing. Dr. Devine then examines you, explains what he finds in plain language, and recommends a plan before you leave. X-rays are used only when they are clinically warranted. Adjustments can use Diversified, Activator, Drop Table, Torque Release or SOT techniques, so you can choose a gentler approach if you prefer.

When to get medical care first

Seek emergency care for a suspected fracture, a joint that looks deformed, loss of consciousness or head injury symptoms, severe swelling, or chest pain during exertion.
