About Tualatin
Tualatin is a city of 27,942 people (2020 census), located mostly in Washington County with a small portion in Clackamas County, south of Tigard. The Tualatin River flows along most of its northern boundary. The early settlement grew up around a bridge built over the river in 1853, was known as Galbreath and Bridgeport, and took the name Tualatin in the 1880s. The city incorporated in 1913.
Today Tualatin is known for Bridgeport Village, an upscale shopping area that opened in 2005 on a former quarry site, and for Nyberg Woods at Interstate 5 and Nyberg Road. The city is also home to Legacy Meridian Park Hospital.
Life in Tualatin and what your body feels
Tualatin has a large working community. Employers include Lam Research. Residents also commute on Interstate 5 or ride the WES Commuter Rail from Tualatin Station.
Long shifts on your feet, repetitive tasks, lifting and hours behind the wheel all load the low back and neck. For fun, the city has hosted the West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta since 2004, a good reminder that a sore back should not keep you from a fall event. If pain is slowing you down at work or at play, Dr. Devine can help you figure out why.
Chiropractic care for Tualatin patients
Here are some of the conditions Form & Function Chiropractic sees most often from Tualatin patients. Care is always based on an exam, and Dr. Devine will tell you if another type of provider would serve you better.
- Low back pain: Back pain is one of the most common reasons people call us. Dr. Devine looks at the spine, hips and the way you move, then combines adjustments with guidance on posture and activity.
- Sciatica: Pain, tingling or numbness that travels from the low back or hip down the leg can have several causes. An exam helps us understand what is driving it before we recommend care.
- Neck pain: Stiff, sore necks often come from desk work, driving or sleeping awkwardly. We look for the joints and muscles involved and build a plan to restore comfortable motion.
- Pinched nerve: Irritated nerves can cause sharp pain, tingling or weakness. We look at the spine and surrounding joints and explain what we find in plain language.
- Foot pain: Foot and heel pain can change how you walk and strain the knees, hips and back. We look at how your feet and the rest of your body work together.
We also provide car accident care, sports injury care, prenatal care, pediatric care and wellness care. See all services and conditions.
What your first visit looks like
Your first visit with Dr. Devine starts with a conversation about your health history, what brought you in, and what you want to get back to doing. He then performs an exam, explains what he finds in plain language, and recommends a care plan. X-rays are taken in the office only when they are clinically warranted. Adjustments can be done with several techniques, including Diversified, Activator, Drop Table, Torque Release and SOT, so you can choose a gentler approach if you prefer.
Dr. Devine has practiced for more than 25 years and trained at Palmer West Chiropractic College. Co-owner Jodi Black is a nutrition coach, and the clinic also offers Erchonia laser therapy and rehab and physiotherapy options for patients who need extra support.
