Looking for laser therapy in Lake Oswego? Form & Function Chiropractic offers Erchonia laser therapy as a drug-free, needle-free support tool alongside chiropractic care. Dr. Jeff Devine uses it when an evaluation suggests it may help, never as a replacement for a proper exam or for medical care.

What is Erchonia laser therapy?

Erchonia lasers are a type of low-level laser therapy, also called cold laser or photobiomodulation. They use specific wavelengths of light and are Class 2, non-thermal devices, which means they are not meant to cut or heat tissue. The light is absorbed by cells and is thought to support the cellular energy process and to influence inflammatory signaling in the treated area. Read the clinic’s overview in its post on what Erchonia technology actually does.

How laser fits into your care

Laser is used alongside adjustments and corrective exercise, not on its own. It is typically used to help calm irritated tissue and support recovery from musculoskeletal concerns such as neck and back strain, sports injuries and joint pain. It may be added to care for low back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain or foot pain, and to sports injury recovery plans.

Device options

  • FX-405: used for musculoskeletal pain
  • Zerona Violet (VZ series): used for wellness and recovery
  • GVL handheld unit: available for at-home rental

What a session is like

A laser session is painless and non-thermal. You wear protective eyewear, and most people feel nothing beyond that. Before starting, Dr. Devine reviews your plan, including how often sessions are recommended. For current session timing and any questions about coverage, call the office at (503) 495-3454.

Safety and expectations

Before using laser, we review your health history so we can choose the right device and plan. Results are not guaranteed and vary from person to person. Whether laser is appropriate depends on your evaluation, and Dr. Devine will tell you if it is not a good fit. Laser therapy does not replace a physician’s care, and we refer you when another provider is the right choice.

What your first visit looks like

Your first visit starts with a conversation about your history, when your concern began, what makes it better or worse, and what you want to get back to doing. Dr. Devine then examines you, explains what he finds in plain language, and recommends a plan before you leave. X-rays are used only when they are clinically warranted. Adjustments can use Diversified, Activator, Drop Table, Torque Release or SOT techniques, so you can choose a gentler approach if you prefer.

When to get medical care first

Severe or sudden symptoms, or symptoms involving numbness or weakness, need a medical evaluation first. Ask the office about your specific situation before scheduling laser.

Common questions

Does laser therapy hurt?

No. It is painless and non-thermal, and you wear protective eyewear during the session.

Is laser a stand-alone treatment?

No. It is a support tool used with adjustments and exercise when an evaluation suggests it may help.

Can I rent a laser for home?

The clinic lists a GVL handheld unit for at-home rental. Ask the office whether it fits your plan.
