About Oak Grove

Oak Grove is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in northwestern Clackamas County with 17,290 residents (2020 census). It is bordered on the north by Milwaukie, the Willamette River forms its western edge, and Lake Oswego lies across the river. Oregon Route 99E runs through the community as McLoughlin Boulevard.

The area was named in the 1890s at the suggestion of surveyor Edward W. Cornell. A Creighton post office opened in 1904 and was renamed Oak Grove in 1907. Local landmarks include the historic Concord School and a LINCC library branch.

Life in Oak Grove and what your body feels

Oak Grove sits across the Willamette River from Lake Oswego, so we are neighbors even though the river is between us. People here are active, from riverfront walks to yard projects and kids’ sports.

Foot, heel and ankle pain can change how you walk and stress your knees, hips and back. Dr. Devine looks at how your feet and the rest of your body move together before he suggests a plan. Headaches and low back pain are also among the reasons Oak Grove patients call.

Chiropractic care for Oak Grove patients

Here are some of the conditions Form & Function Chiropractic sees most often from Oak Grove patients. Care is always based on an exam, and Dr. Devine will tell you if another type of provider would serve you better.

  • Foot pain: Foot and heel pain can change how you walk and strain the knees, hips and back. We look at how your feet and the rest of your body work together.
  • Low back pain: Back pain is one of the most common reasons people call us. Dr. Devine looks at the spine, hips and the way you move, then combines adjustments with guidance on posture and activity.
  • Headaches and migraines: Some headaches begin in the neck and upper back. We check for those contributors and talk through daily habits that may help. Sudden, severe or unusual headaches need urgent medical attention.
  • Neck pain: Stiff, sore necks often come from desk work, driving or sleeping awkwardly. We look for the joints and muscles involved and build a plan to restore comfortable motion.
  • Shoulder pain: Shoulder trouble can start in the neck, upper back or the joint itself. We assess the whole chain so care addresses the source, not just the sore spot.

We also provide car accident care, sports injury care, prenatal care, pediatric care and wellness care. See all services and conditions.

What your first visit looks like

Your first visit with Dr. Devine starts with a conversation about your health history, what brought you in, and what you want to get back to doing. He then performs an exam, explains what he finds in plain language, and recommends a care plan. X-rays are taken in the office only when they are clinically warranted. Adjustments can be done with several techniques, including Diversified, Activator, Drop Table, Torque Release and SOT, so you can choose a gentler approach if you prefer.

Dr. Devine has practiced for more than 25 years and trained at Palmer West Chiropractic College. Co-owner Jodi Black is a nutrition coach, and the clinic also offers Erchonia laser therapy and rehab and physiotherapy options for patients who need extra support.
