About Rivergrove
Rivergrove is a small city of 545 people (2020 census), located in Clackamas County with a small portion in Washington County. The Tualatin River forms its southern border, Interstate 5 forms the western border, and Childs Road serves as the northern border for much of the city.
The name combines the Tualatin River and Lake Grove, a community that is now part of Lake Oswego. The city incorporated on January 27, 1971, after a vote of 57 to 48 in favor. That shared history means Rivergrove and Lake Oswego have been neighbors for a long time.
Life in Rivergrove and what your body feels
With a river on one side and a busy interstate on the other, Rivergrove is a quiet pocket in between. Residents spend time gardening, walking and taking care of their properties, and many drive for work.
Falls, strains from yard work and a long drive can bring on sudden back or neck pain, and a car accident can leave symptoms that show up days later. Dr. Devine evaluates the whole picture and can explain what is going on in plain language.
Chiropractic care for Rivergrove patients
Here are some of the conditions Form & Function Chiropractic sees most often from Rivergrove patients. Care is always based on an exam, and Dr. Devine will tell you if another type of provider would serve you better.
- Whiplash: Neck and upper back symptoms after a collision can appear days later. We evaluate and build a gentle, step-by-step recovery plan.
- Neck pain: Stiff, sore necks often come from desk work, driving or sleeping awkwardly. We look for the joints and muscles involved and build a plan to restore comfortable motion.
- Low back pain: Back pain is one of the most common reasons people call us. Dr. Devine looks at the spine, hips and the way you move, then combines adjustments with guidance on posture and activity.
- Shoulder pain: Shoulder trouble can start in the neck, upper back or the joint itself. We assess the whole chain so care addresses the source, not just the sore spot.
- Headaches and migraines: Some headaches begin in the neck and upper back. We check for those contributors and talk through daily habits that may help. Sudden, severe or unusual headaches need urgent medical attention.
We also provide car accident care, sports injury care, prenatal care, pediatric care and wellness care. See all services and conditions.
What your first visit looks like
Your first visit with Dr. Devine starts with a conversation about your health history, what brought you in, and what you want to get back to doing. He then performs an exam, explains what he finds in plain language, and recommends a care plan. X-rays are taken in the office only when they are clinically warranted. Adjustments can be done with several techniques, including Diversified, Activator, Drop Table, Torque Release and SOT, so you can choose a gentler approach if you prefer.
Dr. Devine has practiced for more than 25 years and trained at Palmer West Chiropractic College. Co-owner Jodi Black is a nutrition coach, and the clinic also offers Erchonia laser therapy and rehab and physiotherapy options for patients who need extra support.
