About Stafford
Stafford is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Clackamas County, south of Lake Oswego, east of Tualatin and west of West Linn. It covers about 6.33 square miles and had 1,895 residents at the 2020 census. George A. Steel named it after his hometown of Stafford, Ohio, in the 1860s, and Stafford School opened in 1892.
The intersection of Stafford and Borland roads is known as Wankers Corner, after the Wanker family opened a store and tavern there in 1895. In November 2006, residents voted 344 to 30 to form a hamlet, only the second in Oregon. Most of the area is in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District, with some parts in the Lake Oswego School District.
Life in Stafford and what your body feels
Stafford has a more spread-out, country feel than the cities around it. If you spend weekends on property upkeep, hauling, lifting or working outside, you know how quickly the shoulders, back and wrists feel it.
Patients tell us they want a chiropractor who takes the time to understand how they use their bodies. Dr. Devine examines you, explains what he finds, and builds a plan that fits your work, your routine and your goals.
Chiropractic care for Stafford patients
Here are some of the conditions Form & Function Chiropractic sees most often from Stafford patients. Care is always based on an exam, and Dr. Devine will tell you if another type of provider would serve you better.
- Pinched nerve: Irritated nerves can cause sharp pain, tingling or weakness. We look at the spine and surrounding joints and explain what we find in plain language.
- Shoulder pain: Shoulder trouble can start in the neck, upper back or the joint itself. We assess the whole chain so care addresses the source, not just the sore spot.
- Low back pain: Back pain is one of the most common reasons people call us. Dr. Devine looks at the spine, hips and the way you move, then combines adjustments with guidance on posture and activity.
- Sciatica: Pain, tingling or numbness that travels from the low back or hip down the leg can have several causes. An exam helps us understand what is driving it before we recommend care.
- Neck pain: Stiff, sore necks often come from desk work, driving or sleeping awkwardly. We look for the joints and muscles involved and build a plan to restore comfortable motion.
We also provide car accident care, sports injury care, prenatal care, pediatric care and wellness care. See all services and conditions.
What your first visit looks like
Your first visit with Dr. Devine starts with a conversation about your health history, what brought you in, and what you want to get back to doing. He then performs an exam, explains what he finds in plain language, and recommends a care plan. X-rays are taken in the office only when they are clinically warranted. Adjustments can be done with several techniques, including Diversified, Activator, Drop Table, Torque Release and SOT, so you can choose a gentler approach if you prefer.
Dr. Devine has practiced for more than 25 years and trained at Palmer West Chiropractic College. Co-owner Jodi Black is a nutrition coach, and the clinic also offers Erchonia laser therapy and rehab and physiotherapy options for patients who need extra support.
